That's my friend Essay on our way out to Bucket Shop last night.
"I will call you back later" & Other crappy variations. A group of girls & I have discussed and we have decided that this is absolutely THE MOST ANNOYING THING they say. [they only say "yes you, look fat" on tv, and commercials, not in real life, they aint crazy!]
Because: Later is so..... VAGUE!!
so I'm thinking
What the fuck?, when the fuck?, tomorrow?, today?, in an hour? But what they really mean is bye!!! why not just say "call you when I call you," I sometimes say "Talk to you when I do!" or I'm specific!! "I'll call you this weekend." or just plain "Goodnight, sweetdreams etc"
Anyways this is mostly done while you are on the phone, and something "obviously" comes up. lol funny thing we agreed, it only bugs us when it's a guy we like, or were interested in, or guy that's hitting on us, or we want information.
SO GUYS, if you ever read this, PLS STOP. be blunt, we can take it. Just say it!!!! Than making poor girls around the world that might be into you, wait for they cells to ring. Bye I'm late for dinner.

When i use that line, "later" means when next you cross my mind. On rare occasions i mean to call, plan to call and even want to call but it just slips my mind.
The problem here is that guys are built differently and just don't think its a big deal.

I can happily say that I have never violated this rule. my escape line on the phone is, "well let me run". its vague, its open ended, and its truthful
When I say I'll call you later, I mean it - later = later than now, but not longer than a week because that's NEVER.
Does anyone remember when you were younger and you wanted to get off the phone, so you would pretend that your mother was calling you or something. It would go like this:
Person: (in the middle of telling you a boring story)
You: Wait hold on for a min
Person: ok
You: What you say? Oh ok mom here I come (Pretending to yell downstairs to your mother)
You: Dang I gotta call you back, my mom needs me for something. Or my mom needs to use the phone.
Person: Ok bye (they know you just wanted to get off of the phone)

I hate that line "i'll call u later", cos most times "later" never comes or comes after a very long time. when a guy i like tells me i'll call u later, i try not to expect his call anytime soon to avoid any disappointment. and i don't believe their promises. the species are something else, from a totally different planet as us females.

"I'll call you later" doesn't really bother me. It's "I'll call you at [a specific time]" and I don't get the call at that time (or like within an hour of that time) that pisses me off.

In the first place who does the calling? The guy in most cases! And he says he will call you back right? even if he goes on for a long time without calling, it might just be that something went wrong somewhere! Rather than just jumping to conclusions and assume that it is our way of saying "bye", I guess you should call him maybe this once to know why he defaulted! That might change your perception about guys and the call you later syndrome!
On a lighter note, we are all GUILTY of that phrase at some point in life, ladies inclusive! Lol!

I'll you back later is the most honest response in the book. Later leaves it open so we can call back anytime we feel without restriction. Yeah it kind of leaves y'all hanging but in some situations thats OK, leave y'all anticipating.
