Vintage, Retro, Rockabilly & Costume Inspired Swimwear

I'm super obsessed with vintage, retro & costume inspired swimwear. In the right before summer I would start hunting for swimwear, not really wanting a revealing bathing suit but someone 50's 20's, anything, I didn't care what decade but I wanted something retro, girly, covered a bit more and stylish.

Sadly back then there were hardly any options, considering its a small niche, and fastforward 6 years later its still a small niche, but I'm excited that it has developed.

Hopefully these images will give you a feel for the swimwear I adore. & If I ever went into fashion it will be all I'd create, but sadly I cant find anyone that teaches how to sew swimwear in Atlanta/ Georgia. I even wrote a marketing  paper on it :)

    Inspirations

    1. I wore this when I went to Miami even though I always hid in the water, lol.
Fables By Barrie (main site) can also be bought in their etsy store or modcloth -- they probably have new stuff now.

    2. Agent provocateur (link)

i tend to always credit on my blog, but i saved a lot of these images ages ago & cant remember where some are from. so just enjoy & if you know the designer let me know.

    3. Mama Maria (site) remember these images are past collections

    4. These were probably from PinUp girl clothing, and My baby Jo

    5. Coco Rave Swimwear

    6. Swimwear trend: 50’s vibe, put together by TheFashionTime.com in 2008 featuring Abaete, Lamb etc

    Abaete 1950's inspired runway look

    for more:

    7.  Sometime I noticed the finished photoshoots and the bathing suits were a bit different, but the styles were fabulous and perhaps needed cleaning, but i think this are from etsy so the are hand made & creative & not meant to be overtly professional.

**the above is different from no 1**

lol yeah....I was a bit obsessed with searching for a "sailor suit"

the detail in the pirate suit below is sooooo badass. I think it was on Etsy.com

    8. Tuxedo Bikini - also on Etsy for about $199 by Stepanka (Stepankalicious.etsy.com )

    9. Randoms Pink & White by Fairy Goth Mother was £175 now £99 (link), Courtney by PistolPanties.(link) was £145 pounds.

green and pinks. the bottom right is Oscar De La Renta that I saw a long time ago on Couture Carries blog (I think she has some new swimwear on now)

    10. For busty ladies Hoola Swimwear- i think they start at D/  DD's and end at G or F bra cups-- Jade Soprano Suit (link) was £65.00 but now £45.00

    11. Norma Kamali (site) omg & now for one of the most exquisite & pretty darn expensive, about $150 -500 bucks etc, I think Samantha wore one the Sex & the City movie.. the red suit. There's also a Norma Kamali for walmart as of '09! how crazy. or even Norma Kamili on ebay. these images are from the jersey, ruffle & goddes lines.

    that's all folks

    13. The retro looks is so in right now. Even underwear styles are right out of the 50s. I love Dita Von Deese's retro style too.

    19. Love this post!! You inspired me too! I love the tuxedo bikini and the last ones. They're sooo cute. I don't really like how the sailor ones accentuate your hips (if you have big hips) though.

    20. OMG so many I like! wish I could sport all of them out, but that cut seems like it would look huge on big hips, like someone else said too.
Plus the tan lines wouldnt be so great hehe, but they sure are CUTE!
